About
Based at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina in Falmouth Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda Search and Rescue — ABSAR — is the islands' dedicated non-profit emergency response organisation for mariners, offshore crews, and anyone in distress on the water. Operating around the clock, seven days a week, ABSAR is on call by sea, air, and land to respond to search, rescue, and medical emergencies throughout Antiguan and Barbudan waters.
The safety backbone of Antigua's sailing season
ABSAR serves as the primary safety, rescue and medical agency for Antigua Race Week and the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta — two of the Caribbean's most celebrated sailing events. For visiting yachts, race crews, and charter fleets, ABSAR's presence at both regattas means professional emergency cover is on station whenever the fleet is racing. The organisation liaises closely with the Antigua Coast Guard, Caribbean Helicopters, and other local and regional agencies to coordinate the most effective response to any incident at sea.
