That's Life
About This Restaurant
Perched at the water's edge in English Harbour, this eclectic bar and kitchen has earned its reputation as one of the area's coolest evening hangouts — equally welcoming to yachties, locals, and visitors looking for an authentic, relaxed meal as the sun goes down over Antigua's famous harbour.
The Kitchen
Chef Gill's approach is refreshingly simple: a daily-changing menu built entirely around the availability of fresh local ingredients, cooked to order and served at local prices. The result is a varied, flavourful selection that might include Thai fish cakes, chicken tikka skewers, wings, burgers, or slow-cooked ribs — alongside more substantial dishes such as curry or chilli. For those who want to enjoy the cooking at home, takeaway options including curry and chilli to go are also available. The kitchen opens at 5.30pm.
Atmosphere and Setting
As the water laps gently at the edges of the bar and flying fish dart across the surface, guests can settle onto the terrace or kick back on the sofas with friends for a sundowner cocktail. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed — the kind of place where an early evening drink easily turns into a long, memorable night. Spectacular sunset views make the terrace particularly popular in the early evening hours.
Hours and Happy Hour
The bar opens at 4pm, Monday to Saturday. Happy Hour runs from 4pm to 7pm, making it an ideal stop for sundowners before or after exploring the harbour. Food is served from 5pm, with the full kitchen menu available from 5.30pm. Reservations are not required, though arriving early during peak season is advisable to secure a terrace seat for sunset.
