Rohrman Sports Association

About

Based in Antigua and Barbuda, this non-profit organisation is committed to advancing sports tourism, supporting elite athlete development, and encouraging healthy living through active participation in sport. Spearheaded by Rory Butler and Dr. Kim Mallin, the association brings together government bodies, local federations, sponsors, and volunteers each year to deliver a sporting festival that draws participants of all ages and abilities. The association is best known for its signature annual event, the AUA Rohrman Triathlon — a multi-race festival rooted in a strong tradition of community sport. The Rohrman name honours the late Jonathan Rohr, one of the founding figures behind the original event, which began in 2012 as the Tinman, a half-iron distance triathlon. After five years, the format evolved into the Olympic-distance Rohrman in 2017, expanding to a full festival format that now encompasses ten separate races for participants ranging from children aged six and under through to adult age-group competitors. Beyond the triathlon festival, the Rohrman Sports Association contributes to the broader sporting and outdoor community in Antigua and Barbuda. Rory and Justine Butler of the association were among the collaborative contributors behind Hike 365 , a national trail guide for Antigua and Barbuda, reflecting the organisation's wider interest in promoting active outdoor lifestyles across the islands. The association works in partnership with a wide network of sponsors and supporting bodies, including the American University of Antigua, the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority, the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and several local federations covering cycling, swimming, and triathlon.
