Rendezvous Bay Trail

Starting just on the edge of Falmouth, this picturesque circular trail is one of the most rewarding walks on the island, offering hikers a chance to experience Antigua's southern coastline from the clifftops before descending to the beautiful and secluded beach at Rendezvous Bay. The route passes through Turtle Bay and returns via the Spring Hill Riding Stables area, completing a satisfying loop with varied terrain and superb scenery at every turn. Rendezvous Bay itself is accessible in several ways — from the Fig Tree Hill and Carlisle Bay area, from English Harbour, or by boat — but the trail from Falmouth is a particular favourite for the dramatic clifftop views it offers along the way. The bay can be enjoyed as a rest stop mid-hike, making it possible to turn the outing into a full day's adventure, or the circular route can be completed in around 90 minutes for those seeking a brisk and rewarding workout. The trailhead is found by turning off the main road just before Horseford Hill onto Farreel Avenue, following it to the fork near the Spring Hill Riding Stables. Parking is available in that area, with the trail beginning along the left-hand road toward Turtle Bay and returning down the right-hand road past the stables. As with all hiking in Antigua, good footwear with a solid sole is strongly advised — tree roots are common along the lower sections of the trail, and the paths can become slippery in the dry season. The area also features Acacia trees with long spines that can penetrate light soles, so sturdy trainers or lightweight walking boots are recommended. Carrying adequate drinking water is essential, and it is advisable to walk early in the morning or in the late afternoon to avoid the intense midday heat.
