Based in the heart of Antigua's yachting world — English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour — the Antigua & Barbuda Yacht Workers Association (ABYWA) was founded on 14 February 2009 and has operated for well over a decade as a body registered under the Antigua and Barbuda Marine Association (ABMA). The Association was established to bring consistent standards, verified expertise and a measurable level of security to the vessels that visit Antigua in need of professional day work or more extensive maintenance. With a pool of 150 skilled professionals, the ABYWA is one of the most organised networks of marine tradespeople in the Eastern Caribbean. Every member carries an Association-issued identification card bearing their name, photograph, job title and Association affiliation — a simple but effective credential that is presented to marina security upon entering the docks, giving vessel owners and captains the confidence to know exactly who is working on their boat. The Association enjoys close collaboration with the marinas in the English and Falmouth Harbour areas, and members regularly service both new arrivals and returning yachts from across the globe. The ABYWA's customer base spans Antigua and Barbuda, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Italy, the United States, India, Asia and other parts of the Caribbean — a reach that reflects the quality and reputation of its members' work. It is no coincidence that Antigua is widely recognised as the Varnishing Capital of the World. Whether a vessel requires a quick turnaround before the next passage or a more involved programme of repairs, the ABYWA can supply the right professionals for the job. Members are also equipped to carry out large-vessel repairs on site at local boatyards, helping captains and owners get back on the water as efficiently as possible.
